Every once in a while it’s nice to accomplish something a little unusual. For some, writing a letter a day is a longstanding practice. And then there are those of us who feel a little commitment to an idea goes a long way. And that’s where February comes in.

If you’re going to do something for a whole month, it’s good to tackle the easy one first.

The idea is to send a handwritten letter, card or note to someone every day for the month of February. It doesn’t have to be a novel or even news, it’s entirely up to you what you write.

Most people who have participated in this project over the years have found it a rewarding and enjoyable way to be introduced to ideas and people all over the world and have continued to write and receive letters well into the year.

Interestingly, quite a number of people correspond the year round. Replies and new letters continue to go out well into late August and beyond. In general, people who write regularly welcome opportunity and this could apply to you. If you’d like to write someone from this years event, A list of participants who always welcome mail can be found on our address book page.

You don’t have to wait to get started. Put a smile on your face, pick up a pen and you’re off. It couldn’t be more simple than that.

I’m sending a heart-felt thank you to the people who created INCOWRIMO and also to those people who maintain the website. You are doing a great service to all in keeping the art of handwritten letters alive in these modern times. Who knew that there are so many of us out there who love paper, pen, and postage! 2019 will be my second year participating and I had such a good experience writing to INCO friends throughout last year. You are appreciated for all of your fine ideas and work in keeping this project running so smoothly.

      • Hello,
I’m joinng this on the 6th of March for the first time. Are you only supposed to choose names and send letters during February – in which case do I now wait until a new list is produced later in the year?

f its still okay to send letters out using the current list then whilst I love the idea of the project and love writing letters I’m not too sure what kind of thing I should be writing about to people – any tips on this would be much appreciated.

        • welcome! everyone you see in the current list is there because they would be happy to receive mail and continue to correspond throughout the year. you can choose any name, any time and send something off. (chances are you’ll get a letter in response). Writing can be about anything :) we promise that once you get started and a letter or two comes back, it gets alot easier. The classic ‘who, where, what, when and why’ questions are always a good place to start. just pick a subject and go :)

    Hi !

I just have joined this awsome challenge once, and I am so looking forward to do it again…but last time I recieved my “own” adress list with 28 ppl which I can write to. Do I have to pick the 28 ppl on my own this time ? …or is there a link to this special adress list ?

    • every year we post a totally random list of 28 people you might like to write to and the names are randomly changed on random days. in short, you could use this list or you might just want to randomly pick 28 names. even better, you could read the numerous creative suggestions about choosing names in the comments page:)

……where can I find this random list of the 28 ppl ?

    • good question! no way is completely perfect and there is a small possibility of false positives but a [space] counts as a character. this means that one you have your search enabled by using [ctrl][F} simultaneously, you can enter [space] then [the two letters of the state in CAPS] followed by another [space]. this should tighten up the search quite a bit. there are perhaps other ways but this is quick and easy :)

I am unable to find the address list for this year 2020

    • hi there Jo. there wasn’t a page :( we’re really sorry and understand after all these years how disappointed you must be. in recompense, we are planning to run the project for the rest of the year. there will be posts and the beginnings of a list over the next couple of days.
