Shalom Aleichem – שָׁלוֹם עֲלֵיכֶם

shalom-aleichem

“What if we consider this time as we would consider the Shabbat?

The most sacred of time?

Cease from travel.
Cease from buying and selling.
Give up, just for now,
on trying to make the world different than it is.
Sing. Pray. Touch only those
to whom you commit your life.

Connect with the goodness of creation.

And when your body has become still,
reach out with your heart.
Know that we are connected
in ways that are terrifying and beautiful.
For we can hardly deny that now.

Know that our lives are in anothers hands.
We need not reach out with our hands today.
We can reach out with our hearts.
Reach out with our words.
Reach out to all with compassion
to move invisibly where we cannot touch.”
